What's your MP doing?

There is an Early Day Motion (a sort of petition for MPs) which asks the House of Commons to recognise the demand for a bank holiday on St. George's Day (click here for details).

So far only 36 out of 646 MPs have agreed to sign this Early Day Motion (EDM) ... that's less than 6% !

So we have made a list of all the MPs and highlighted those that have signed (so you can say thank you) and those that have not signed (so you can ask them why).

Simply select your area from the list below, then choose your consituency and MP. If you are not sure of your constituency simply enter your postcode in the 'Email your MP' box on the left.

Please select an area from the list.

Public Holidays in the UK (EDM 1420, dated 03.05.2007)
Submitted by Simon Hughes MP

"That this House notes the increased level of debate about Britishness, national identity and community cohesion; further notes that St Andrew's Day is now a public holiday in Scotland and St Patrick's Day is a public holiday in Northern Ireland; and believes that St George's Day and St David's Day should also be public holidays for England and Wales respectively, and that one day a year should be set aside to celebrate the huge benefit of the United Kingdom."

St. George Unofficial Bank Holiday is an independent group who want a national bank holiday for England. We have no links to any political or religious organisation. We would like all the English, regardless of colour, religion or sexuality, to be able to celebrate their common heritage and future together.
